
Julia Clark is a poet, reviewer, and academic based in Sydney, Australia on Ku-ring-gai and Darug land.
She completed her PhD thesis titled “She believes she is herself”: Contemporary Feminist Poetics Under Late-Stage Capitalism in 2024 where she wrote about the work of Mei-mei Berssenbrugge, Gig Ryan, Dawn Lundy Martin, Ariana Reines, and Melinda Bufton.
In 2018 her honours thesis titled “Please consider me forever”: The Cuteness of Fiona Hile and Kate Lilley won the Dame Leonie Kramer Prize in Australian Poetry.
In 2015 Julia won the University of Sydney Union Verge Award in Poetry for her poem “Another Triptych”. She was shortlisted in the Drama and Prose categories the same year.
Julia’s work is interested in the intersection of aesthetics, objects, and bodies. If she’s not reading or writing, she’s at the theatre.
